　　学校概括

　　学校由占地2，600多英亩的主校区和分布其他六个地区的分支及研究机构组成，拥有建筑100多幢和一座机场，并同时在瑞士设有海外教学基地，在州内拥有1，700英亩的农业研究基地；是美国前50大的研究重镇，为Newsweek 评鉴前30名的最佳公立大学，是一个学术风气及研究气息极佳的学校。根据卡内基教育基金会于2005年公布的大学分类，弗吉尼亚理工被归类为特高研究型大学(very high research activity). 是全美最强四大理工之一（四大理工即麻省理工，加州理工，佐治亚理工，弗吉尼亚理工）。

　　弗吉尼亚理工大学有超过700个俱乐部&学生组织。无论学生是想参加兄弟会还是机器人大赛，都能找到适合的俱乐部。还可以带着三个以上的人组建一个自己的小组。学校有两个大型体育馆、游泳池、网球场，体育馆中有健身房、篮球馆、排球馆、乒乓球桌、有氧健身房等等。学校还有一个大型体育场，占地一万六千平方米，有各种户外运动场。

　　弗州理工主校区坐落于弗吉尼亚州西南部的黑堡镇，背靠阿巴拉契亚山脉，处于新河谷中心区。

　　文化生活

　　该校属于大西洋沿岸联盟。黑堡，大约有四万公民，是一个四季分明、治安良好、景色宜人、人民友善的小镇，所以名列十大美国最适宜养老的小镇。

　　自然景观

　　黑堡四季分明，气候舒适，全年大部分时期都适合室外活动，春天可以欣赏百花绽放的愉悦，夏天时可以尽情在绿意盎然的草地上奔跑，秋天则沉浸在金华色的枫红里，那枫红的美景一定会让您永生难忘，冬天时一片雪白的世界传送着圣诞节的温馨及新年的快乐。黑堡附近也有些著名的景点，如Cascade Fall、Mountain Lake等等，更有最著名的Blue Ridge Parkway国家公园。

　　由于海拔较高，夏季的高温比较缓和，平均温度约为30°C，偶尔也会超过33°C。而相对于同纬度地区，冬天较冷，平均温度约为0°C，而在有些寒冷的冬夜，温度甚至可能低至-20°C。

　　交通

　　黑堡距离弗吉尼亚州西部重镇洛亚诺克仅40分钟车程，而距离美国首都华盛顿特区也仅有4小时车程。弗吉尼亚州州交通发达，有公路9万公里，铁路6000公里，机场95处。

A：　　申请说明　　弗吉尼亚理工一般每年9月初开放转学申请，第二年2月中旬截止。每年收到转学申请2000多份——，录取学生1600多名，录取率在65%左右。秋季和春季两个学期均可转学，要求至少可转学分达到12个学分，才可算以转学生的身份申请。可入读大一第二学期、大二、大三、大四等其中任何一个学期。申请时，无需计算可转学分数，入学后，由所录取的专业、项目或系计算。弗吉尼亚理工转学申请时，国际学生可无需SAT与ACT成绩。
