　　是不是很吓人？其实，这个称号更多是源自大部分康奈尔学子所表现出的“我要更出色”的学术态度。与其它常青藤盟校大而全的发展策略不同，康奈尔一直致力于做“最好的本科教育”。其下属7所学院，4所私立，3所公立。其中建筑学院与酒店管理学院提供了全美最好的相关专业。

　　最容易入学的常青藤盟校

　　早在Erza Cornell 1860年创立康奈尔时，“一所让所有人可以学习任何专业的大学”即成为了以后200年这所高等学府所遵循的教育理念。康奈尔的招生政策不考虑学生支付能力，并且保证迎合每一名录取学生的经济需要。

　　康奈尔本身就是一个世界

　　住宿

　　本科生学生宿舍分成三个部分，分别是西校区(West Campus)、大学镇(Collegetown)和北校区(North Campus)。西校区主要供转校生及高年级生居住，大学镇的住宿生主要为高年级生，而北校区则主要供一年级生居住。在住宿这一方面，康奈尔也是完全开放，花样翻新，新人也可以自由选择住处。而校园里除了一般的宿舍楼和兄弟会、姊妹会成员的住宅之外，还有根据学生不同的兴趣爱好所设立的十所住宅，其中有“外国语方住房”、“印第安人住房”、“环境住房”和“音乐住房”等等。学生可以自己选择今后四年的同住伙伴。与其它许多大学很不一样的是，校方并不要求、甚至并不鼓励学生们四年都住在学校里。

　　餐饮

　　康奈尔大学在学生的“吃”上大下工夫。学校的7个食堂每个都单独操作、食品供应是全美高校中最好的，不但每次晚餐至少有28种主菜，奶食品和一些肉类就由农业学院直接供给，旅馆管理学院每个学期都有―天接管这些食堂。除了菜品丰富以外，康奈尔大学的食堂也装潢得像豪华餐厅一样。而且每学期都会有几家著名餐馆的顶尖大厨，被特邀到校园来展其高超厨艺。总之，在吃的方面，康奈尔大学的学生们可以说是无从挑剔的。

　　康奈尔大学与哥伦比亚大学同在美国纽约州，距离波士顿很近。波士顿面积约59.5平方千米，人口160万。

　　文化生活

　　该校属于常春藤联盟。波士顿是美国独立革命思想的发源地，就相当于中国的延安。波士顿是美国著名的文化城。波土顿交响乐团享有国际声誉。其他主要文化设施有艺术博物馆、美术馆、自然科学史博物馆和波士顿公共图书馆等。该市在体育方面也有所建树：波士顿红袜，波士顿棕熊队，波士顿，凯尔特人队都是波士顿的著名球队。波士顿的治安问题在当地警局的治理之下一度有所缓解。

　　自然景观

　　波士顿水域面积占到了城市总面积的二分之一。查尔斯河，尼本赛特河，神秘河，切尔西溪，都流经波士顿或在波士顿与其他城市的边界上。因此波士顿被人们称为“美国的雅典”，风景怡人。

　　气候

　　波士顿和整个新英格兰地区一样，夏季炎热潮湿，而冬季寒冷。波士顿最热的月份在7月，平均气温为27.7摄氏度，最冷的月份为1月，平均气温为零下5摄氏度。

　　交通

　　曼哈顿的公共交通非常方便，有很多地铁和公共汽车线路，四通八达。住在里面的人根本不需要私车。地铁离地面很近，只要下很少的台阶。有的地铁站很小，有的较大，多层，多站台。里面还算干净，就是非常闷热。一张票$2.25，只要不出站，可以随便坐。曼哈顿里的出租车，随处都有，统一标价，打表收费。如果出纽约市，需要事先跟司机讨论价格。起价$3，每五分之一迈（不到半公里）就跳字。根据早晚时间，行驶等待时间，行李等情况，收费不同。在曼哈顿旅游，双层观光车是不错的选择。2天约$60，在主要景点都有站，可以随时上下，车上有导游。机场/接机信息：距离学校最近的飞机场叫做Ithaca Airport，到学校坐车只需要10分钟。另外一个相对较大的机场是Ithaca 北边的Syracuse Airport，航班较多，但是到达Ithaca 需要一个半小时的车程。新生第一次来行李比较多的话，推荐飞到Ithaca Airport。如果从北京或者上海第一次飞过来，可以考虑Northwest Airline (NW) 或者Continental Airline (CO) 的航班。如果是NW，一般需要中途转两次飞机，而CO只需要在New York City 转一次机，比较快。这两个公司还有一个区别：虽然NW和CO 都可以免费托运两个行李，但是NW 每个行李上限是32KG，而CO 和很多其他公司一样，是23KG。如果选择飞到Syracuse 却有没有找到人接机的话，在飞机场可以询问Airport Limousine， $65 可以送你到指定的地址。如果不得已需要飞到NYC 并且也没有人接机的话，需要从机场做地铁或车到Port Authority Terminal，在那里搭坐Shortline 或者Grehound 到达Ithaca。关于具体的订票方法，如果人在美国或者有信用卡的话，可以在各个订票网站上查询，比如说在Google.com 中查询”buy air ticket”，会有很多网站。例如expedia， priceline和orbitz。如果在国内，可以多打一些代理的电话，相互讲讲价，多比较可以拿到比较合理的价格。关于接机，新生第一次过来的话，可以联系Cornell CSSA，CSSA 会负责在Ithaca， Syracuse 两地的接机。请你关注 CSSA 每年的接机信息，一般会在CSSA 的主页(http：//www.cornellcssa.com) 或者国内各大BBS 上发布。

　　周边企业

　　波士顿的金融业及咨询业发展成熟，有很多世界级著名公司驻扎于此：吉列公司，千禧年医药，泰瑞达公司（Teradyne），波士顿咨询公司，富达投资（Fidelity），美洲银行，王者银行（Sovereign），新百伦（New Balance），霍顿·米夫林出版社。这些公司都将给予康奈尔大学的毕业生以丰富的就业资源。
