　　威廉玛丽学院被誉为“美国母校”

　　创立于1693年的威廉玛丽学院是美国历史第二悠久的大学（仅次于哈佛，早于耶鲁），自美国建国以来享有绝对的名望。作为公立常春藤名校之一，W&M曾培养出包括乔治.华盛顿在内的四位美国总统。校内的The Wren Building于1700年建成，之后历经三次火灾仍巍然矗立，是美国目前仍在沿用中年数最长的教学楼。

　　弗吉尼亚州也同时是一个旅游业发达的州。除海滨度假区和蓝岭山区的谢南多厄国家公园等天然胜景外，弗州还拥有众多的历史名地，使该州成为全国著名游览胜地之一。从里士满往西有一名为夏洛茨维尔的小城，有4万多居民，它偎依在郁郁葱葱的蓝岭山麓，又有碧绿清澈的里万纳河从身旁流过，景色十分秀丽。美国第三任总统杰斐逊的故居蒙蒂塞洛就坐落在城东不远的一座小山上。杰斐逊是美国公认的最博学的总统，他对建筑有着浓厚的兴趣，是一名业余建筑师。他亲自设计了自己的住宅。这座红砖巨宅带有一白柱门廊，上覆圆穹顶，既融合了一些欧洲古典建筑的特点，又表现出杰斐逊自己的风格，被誉为美国早期建筑史上的一朵奇葩。

　　弗州气候温和宜人。东部沿海地区冬季温度很少低于－9℃，夏季温度很少高于38℃。作物生长期长达8个月，比西部山区要多3个月。山区冬寒夏凉，冬温可低到－18℃，夏温一般低于32℃。

　　交通

　　弗吉尼亚州交通发达，有公路9万公里，铁路6000公里，机场95处。重要海港有诺福克、纽波特纽斯、汉普顿和朴次茅斯等。华盛顿─雷根国家机场(DCA)─位于阿灵顿。以全美航空和达美航空的接驳班机为主。华盛顿─杜勒斯国际机场(IAD)─联合航空的转运中心。里士满国际机场(RIC)─位于弗吉尼亚首府里士满市区。机场/接机信息：从大陆到WM校园的标准路线是：从北京或上海乘西北到底特律(Detroit)转机，从底特律到理士满（Richmond），由人接送到校园所在地Williamsburg市（车程1个半小时）。定好了飞机票后，就可以联系接机的事了。（当然也可以很洋气的阔步走出理士满飞机场，高叫“Taxi”）。如果认识这的师兄，朋友，可以请求他们接。也可以和学校的International Student/Friendship的人联系。在offer信中通常有接机申请表。跟CSSA的人联系后，自然会安排接送人。因为不少CSSA的同学刚来时都得到过老生的无私帮助，接新生也是一种回报。但中国同学的车一般都很破，开到理士满都有些问题。一般会请美国友人去接。到了Williamsburg市后，再由中国同学奉送到各家各户，享受落地后的一顿中国晚餐。

A：　　据玛丽学院设有文理学院、海洋科学学院、教育学院、商业管理学院和法学院等五个学院，有数十个专业，设计领域较广，大都具有很强的科研学术实力，可以授予硕士、博士学位，一些学科还在相应领域具有相当影响力。　　威廉玛丽学院共授予1460个本科学位，578个硕士学位，55个博士学位和205个专业学位，学院也获得了美国南部院校协会的认可。　　威廉玛丽学院致力于保证本科教学质量，所以实行小学院环境。学生对教职员的比率是11:1，因此几乎所有的大学生的课堂和实验室都是由教授教学，这个比例在美国公立大学中排名第二，这样做也是为了增进学生和教授之间的互动，每个班级的学生少于40人。
